The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMET) is a Federal Government agency that issues weather and climate forecasts for the safe operation of aircraft, ocean going vessels and oil rigs. The forecasts helps governments prepare for natural disasters (like floods) and also assists farmers to plan for the planting season.
The Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency (NIHSA) is a Federal Government agency that is tasked with provideing information on the status and trends of the nation’s water resources including its location in time and space, extent, dependability, quality and the possibilities of its utilization and control, through the provision of reliable and high quality hydrological and hydrogeological data on a continuous basis.
NIMET and NIHSA have issued alerts and forecast the possibility of flood in 5 LGAs (KadunaNorth,Kaduna South,Igabi,Soba,Kaura) of Kaduna State.
The Kaduna State Government is expected to take action to protect lives and property in the affected areas.
